The Beginning of Coloring our Apartment

Here you have it.  My first thrifted vintage piece in Texas.  It is a California Pottery planter from the early seventies.  This could have been in my mom's kitchen next to the hanging plant in the macrame hanger.

Gee, I cannot imagine why I was attracted to this color.

I simply had to have a pair of these mini retro salt and pepper shakers from Tupperware when they came out.  Raise your hand if you remember the original big ones in white.

What do you think of this wee snippet of counter?  We are in an apartment for a year.  This year is going to be spent exploring Dallas and the surrounding suburbs to see where we want to settle.  It will be like a vacation.  No mowing, raking, weeding, repairing, or paying for repairing.

Downsizing was a great idea, and I have a nice blank, white canvas to add color too.  Little Miss and I hit JoAnn's while Hubby went to the electronics warehouse yesterday.  You can expect posts with more color, color, color!
I swear I did not plan this.  It is simply another moment where my instincts took over my color choices.

Did you happen to notice how clear and empty this week's schedule is?  It is full now!  What with enrolling Little Miss in school and making us legal Texans it is packed.

I realized something.  We are immigrants, yep.  Hubby finally asked the school nurse, who is from Rhode Island, if anybody in Texas is actually from Texas.  Most of the folks we meet are from somewhere else.

I am in seventh heaven.  Since we have been here we have had rain, more rain, an unseasonably balmy day, and nice "spring" weather.  NO  SNOW!

"Heaven, I'm in Heaven.  And my heart beat so, that I can hardly breathe..."

  2. Hope you have a great time settling in to Dallas. I am glad the weather is being friendly. The thing I want to know is... has your hair gotten big yet? ;-)

  3. Oh yea- bring on the macrame! and yes, I remember those big shakers. My mom didn't have them. She made here own mushroom ones in ceramic class. :)

Having a blank slate to decorate is fun! I'm still adjusting to the smaller size though since I had to quickly change my thinking from having my own craft room, work shop and guest house to having none of those!

I hope you enjoy Texas. The best friends I ever made were in Texas- but they were all Texans! Our country is such a melting pot these days. I've hardly met an Idaho native here! ♥

    1. I did not have as much of a shock, since I have always had to do my crafts in the kitchen. A guest HOUSE?
