| Vintage Shaker/Duster from Japan - available |
Do the colors of this vintage shaker from Japan remind you of anything?
Yep, my project for the September Stitch Along with the New Embroideries with Vintage Patterns Group. It inspired me to use warm colors for the flowers. They really pop with the blue.
I tried a new stitch, Cable, on the square cookies. Big B has a nice tutorial for it.
I need YOUR help! The idea for the September SAL is to try new stitches. Does anyone have any suggestions of a stitch for me to try in the centers of the larger flowers? I tried a spider stitch on anther part, and was not very impressed. Boullion Rosettes intrigue me, but they intimidate me too.
Suggestions please!

You are doing a lovely job with your SAL wip!
ReplyDeleteAbout what stitch to use for the flower centers..hmmm...
how about turkey work (aka: ghiordes knot) or
you could do some Lattice work.
(Needle-n-Thread has tutorials for both... I think!)
French knots! Ok, maybe I'm a little partial.
ReplyDeletei thought french knots immediately, but i am not a worldly stitcher, there may be many more adventurous stitches...
ReplyDeleteI am thinking of joining your SAL
