Dotty Swap on my Doorstep

The anticipation and preparation for the Dotty Swap sponsored by Cutie Pie Cottage sure brightened up January and February, and receiving my dots even made spring come early.

Little Miss and I were leaving the house when we found my package on the front step.
I was so excited that I had her open it for me while I was driving in the car.  The day was so gray, that a little peek was all we needed to cheer us right up.  A towel with yoyos, a fabric covered box, a pin cushion, and a personalized pocket calendar peeked out of the tissue before I had her tuck it safely away.  Evening couldn't come quick enough, so that I could touch and feel everything.  Have I mentioned my fabric fetish?
It was already obvious that my swap partner Susie was very talented, but I found out that not only does she sew, but look at these sweet tags.  A paper crafter too!  I think those might even be her own flowers, so add photographer to her abilities.  If you want to see what else she is up to stop over and see her at Little Susie Home Maker.
Thank you Susie for starting spring early!  This bookmark is going to go everywhere with me.  Doesn't everyone carry a book in their purse?

The cover on this nice calender is so well done.  Now I have a goal of getting my sewing as neat as yours.  And the dotty fabric!   I already told Susie that Little Miss loves how she made the items coordinate.  LM is a matchy matchy kind of a gal.  I think Susie made her a Dotty Girl too!
As talented and generous as Suzie is, she has a disorder.  I don't know how serious it is, but somehow she is incapable of counting to three.  Let's pray.

Seriously Susie, thank you for being so generous.  February and March are lousy, and I get the winter blues (grays) terribly.  Thank you for all of the bright, springy, dotty pressies.  I am going to sprinkle them everywhere, so there is spring everywhere I look.

  1. Ha-ha! Yes, I figured several swappers would manifest counting disorders!

  2. Oh, Mary, this is the sweetest post! I am so happy that you and Little Miss enjoyed the package I sent. Your photography looks so pretty! I remembered you had the most beautiful primroses in an earlier post. All the little tags are primrose to cheer up any winter blahs.

You are so funny! Yes, I can count to three. I just added a pinch of love.
    Blessings,
    Susie

  5. What a wonderful swap! Such pretty gifts! What a way to brighten the day, eh?

To answer your question about the petal pouch, I saw a picture at "A spoonful of sugar" and she had a tutorial for how to make the pouch. I didn't follow her pattern because I wanted mine to be bigger. So I just kinda figured it out myself. She said she had been inspired by a picture in a japanese magazine, so it may have been a Kumiko Sudo. I do know who K.S. is, because I have her "Fabled Flowers" quilt book. LOVE that book. ( I have a picture of one of the quilt blocks that I made using her techniques on the Quilt page under my header.)
The other pouch was inspired by a knit pouch I saw on etsy. I thought I could make something similar by crocheting. So no pattern on that either. But it is just two rectangles folded together with hidden seams, after all. Not rocket science.

  7. Oh, what a pretty package of delightful gifts you have received. Pink and spring green have to be the nicest colour combination for springtime, don't you think! Lovely to receive this in the middle of the dreary months! Thanks for sharing and for your visit. Have a wonderful weekend.

    Blessings,
    Sandi
