Have you met Hedgie? He is an adorable fellow. He is creation of Jan Brett who does the most wonderful children's books. She even has a great website with lots of activities and fabulous printables. When the kids were younger it was a great resource for homeschooling, and I still use it for library story times.
My sister remembered how much I love Hedgie, and sent me a nifty set for Christmas. First there is the "Hedgie's Surprise" book.
Jan Brett's books are full of charming details and beautiful illustrations, like borders on the pages of this book that give you clues about the story. I love her paintings that look like Norwegian Redwork.
With it was this charming hedgehog embroidery pattern by penguin & fish. She was so sweet that she even included this polka dotted fat quarter to embroider him onto. How thoughtful!
Imagine my surprise when my online friend BookWormBethie had this fat quarter as part of her stash to clear out. It is perfect! Sure, I could have found hedgehog fabric, but I like this piece with his forest friends. It even has red dots to go with the background fabric!
Finally, polka dots to share for Dotty Hop Day at Cutie Pie Cottage! Holly always has the most fun polka dot things.
With the Redwork pictures and the red dots, I shall definitely have to use red in whatever I make with my treasures. It also means I have something to share for Rednesday. Yay!

Yay! I like this post :)

I am not familiar with that little fellow. Of course, it haa been a long time since I had someone small enough to enjoy. Sounds like a fun book.
ReplyDeleteOh her illustrations are so wonderful! I love her books. Thanks for the website link -- my granddaughter loves the interactive computer games -- she'll love the "dress up" ones!
ReplyDeleteI recognized that name right away as being an author that my daughter read. Or probably I read to her! Did your kids ever read Jim Aylesworth books? I remember he came to the school many times, and autographed several of her books, and it was always a fun visit. Love that fabric, and I bet you'll make something really cute with it!
ReplyDeleteHappy REDnesday,
Carol
I enjoyed your post for Rednesday. I'm not familiar with Jan Brett, but her illustrations are wonderful. Thank you for stopping to visit me.
ReplyDeleteOh I LOVE Jan Brett! I used to teach Kindergarten, and her books were the children's (and my) favorites to read aloud because her illustrations were so wonderful! And I love hedgehogs, so will have to try and find the book!
